A very nice set of bonsai tools at an affordable price. Everything is well made and sharp. One note: the scissors may be a bit awkward to handle if one has small hands.

This is a perfect set for those who are into bonsai but not into the price of many other sets of tools. The tools are very nice, sharp and should last as long as they are cared for.

I am very satisfied with this tool set. Tools appear to be well made and are very sharp. They are supplied in individual plastic packages for individual storage capability.

Most people don’t realize how expensive quality Bonsai tools really are, especially japanese tools which are considered the best. Ill simply say that one tool will cost you more than this entire set. So unless you have gobs of money lying around or your heart is set on getting a really high quality set right off the bat, this is a great set to start off with even if your not a beginner.

Overall this 14 piece set comes with:

(1) 7″ cutting scissors

(2) 7″ trimming scissors

(3) 4 1/4″ leaf cutter

(4) 8″ concave cutter

(5) 8 1/4″ knob cutter

(6) 8″ wire cutter

(7) 10 1/2″ trunk splitter

(8) 9″ jin plier

(9) 7″ root cutter

(10) 6″ carving chisel

(11) branch bender (3″ between side bars when furthest apart)

(12) 8 1/2″ rake with spatula

(13) 9″ root hook

(14) 5 3/4″ broom

I have been growing Bonsai’s for over 13 years and I have noticed that a lot of beginners tend to go overboard with supplies. They start spending all of this money before they even know if this is something they will really enjoy and stick with or if its just a passing interest. A large percentage of the people I introduced to Bonsai are no longer actively practicing. So if your a beginner I highly recommend that you try it out for at least 6 months before you start spending large amounts of money on professional quality supplies. That is one of the reasons why I highly recommend this set for beginners. 90 dollars for 14 tools is a steal. If at a later date you want to upgrade to a nicer set you can do so. At least then you will know more about how serious you are about the hobby.

I would have given this set a 4 star rating if I was basing it on just quality however given the amazing cost of this 14 piece set, well a 5 star rating was a no brainer!!

Received the tools on time..they were all in mint shape and had been previously oiled before shipping. This is a great value for its cost and a definite must for beginners and novices that are still looking to get started in this as a hobby without making a major investment. If you go and buy japanese made tools, these would go for abuot 30-60 bucks EACH item. Here you get 14 for a cheap cost.

These tools are a very good value. No their not from japan but the quality is great, and a great starting point for somebody new to Bonsai.
